Shipping Out Within 2 Months

I've just been lurking around dA for the past few months, witnessing a bunch of drama and other BS that goes on here. Plus I haven't had the motivation to post anything.

But now on to the main topic...

So I've been living in the D.C. area my whole life, I spent half of my childhood living in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and the other half in the suburbs of Maryland. But I always wanted to see more of the world beyond my city and what I see on TV. Two weeks ago I walked into the recruiting station to talk to the Marines, I had interest about becoming a M1 Abrams crewmember. After a bit of talking about the different MOS's I can do he gave me his card if I was considering to join them. My sister was with me that day and insisted that I go talk with the Army as well to see what they had to offer. They were on the second floor of the building and there was only 1 guy there (it was a Saturday so they're usually close but the guy had to make up for time lost that week). He was a cool guy that was into anime, video games and comic books, me being an introvert he was manageable for me to talk to. We talked for a bit, what my interest were, what I want to do with my life and why I chose the Army. He's originally from Detroit, I remember he told me if he hadn't join the military, he'll be dead or in jail. Not that he was a bad person, but that there were a lot of bad people around him. People that will shoot at you on the street, rob you, sell/do drugs or break into your home and kill you.  

Next he set me up to take the practice ASVAB in the back of the office, I did okay, then on Monday he organized a plan for me to take the real test up at MEPS. I did well then I went back up to MEPS the following week for my physical screening, I qualify for Army, chose my MOS (something aviation related) and got sworn in.

Anyways I ship out on August 15, this gives me enough time to prepare for BT. There was a similar job that would have liked to do in the same field but that would have have me leaving on the 6 of July which is far too soon for me lol.
